Privacy policy
How Pero for Mac, trypero.com and pero.pub handle your data.
Who operates Pero
Pero is operated by Pavel Salauyou. For privacy, access, correction or deletion requests, contact pero.support@gmail.com.
Local work
Writing and local saving work without an account. Projects, notes, materials and settings are stored on your Mac. AI API keys, saved publishing connections and Firebase sign-in tokens are held in separate tables in the local SQLite database; they are not stored in the macOS Keychain. Exported files and copies you make are under your control.
Account and cloud
Firebase Authentication processes your email address, account identifier and sign-in information. Sign in with Apple may supply a private relay email address. Google Firebase/Google Cloud processes synced projects, author names and biographies, images, materials and cloud backups to provide the service. Sign-in tokens and publishing credentials are excluded from backups. Current cloud backups also exclude AI API keys; local backups can include AI keys. Backups from older versions may contain AI keys.
Publishing on pero.pub
Publishing is an explicit action. The chosen edition, title, summary, cover, topics, selected author names or pseudonyms, biographies and avatars become public on pero.pub. Notes, research materials and AI conversations are excluded. Saving a selected author updates their public profile. Later manuscript edits appear only after you update the publication. Withdrawal removes the work from the catalogue and its reading address; the author profile remains. We cannot remove copies already saved by readers or search engines.
AI and other publishing services
With your permission, the selected AI provider — OpenAI, xAI or Google Gemini — receives your request and the project text, structure, context or images needed for it, using your API key. You can revoke permission in AI settings for future requests. Provider retention and charges follow your agreement with that provider. Publishing to WordPress, Ghost or Medium sends the chosen content and media to that platform; saved connection credentials stay local and are excluded from sync, history and backups.
Payments
Apple handles Pro purchases, payment information and subscription billing. Pero uses StoreKit to check your entitlement. We do not receive your payment card details. Deleting your Pero account does not cancel an Apple subscription; manage it in your Apple account.
Website and technical data
The sites use a language preference cookie. Hosting providers process network information, such as IP addresses, request time and browser information, to deliver pages and protect the service. Pero does not include advertising SDKs or track you across other companies’ apps for advertising. Network requests use HTTPS. Google, hosting and AI providers may process data outside your country under their own service terms.
Retention and deletion
Cloud data remains while it is needed for your account, synchronisation, backups or chosen public publications. Deleting a project does not remove every older backup. To delete the account and associated Firebase records, files and public publications, use Account and sync → Delete account and reauthenticate. Apple accounts also require renewed authorisation for token revocation. A minimal deletion marker containing the account identifier is retained to prevent old devices recreating deleted data. Local projects remain on your Mac. Provider security logs and copies you made are governed separately. Contact support if deletion fails or for a data request.
Changes and contact
This page will be updated when data handling changes. Contact pero.support@gmail.com with privacy questions. Never email passwords, API keys or private manuscripts unless you deliberately choose to share specific material for support.
